The Dietary Aide (server) is responsible for professional
table service supporting a superior dining experience for
residents and at caterings and special events. Must be
prompt, thorough and responsive to residents' needs;
communicate residents' concerns to Cook and Supervisor-Dining
Services in a timely appropriate manner; takes action to
satisfy the residents promptly and in a pleasant manner.
Must be able to take meal selections, understand various
meal plans and complete job duties in assigned time. The
Server assists with routine operations including preparation,
clearing, cleaning of dining rooms; washing dishes; general
tasks in dining services setting and following Dining
Services policies and procedures or direction of the
Cook, Completes documentation as required. Handles
food, dishware and utensils according to Public Health
Standards.
Requirements:
- Safe Food Handler's, SmartServe and WHMIS certification
mandatory. Food Service Worker's certificate or enrollment
in course an asset.
- Experience in table service in a hotel/restaurant or
institutional setting helpful. Catering and Special events
experience an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in formal service setting.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Part-Time Cook (20 – 25 hours weekly)

The primary role of the Cook is the preparation of high
quality, nutritionally balanced meals for older adults.
Under the direction of the Director of Dining Services or
the on-site Supervisor, the Cook is responsible for the
provision of nutritious meals, snacks, and trays to
residents and their guests in keeping with the Mission and
Objectives of The Gardens of Peterborough. He/she
leads the preparation of meals and the service of food to
residents in accordance with department standards. The Cook
also directs the activities of staff according to department
policies and work routines when management is not present.
The incumbent must be able to work various shifts, including
weekends and holidays as assigned.
Requirements:
- Culinary management diploma or Red Seal Chef designation
preferred but not essential;
- Experience in volume cooking and preparation preferred;
-
Familiarity with therapeutic diets and nutritional standards for
seniors;
- Supervisory experience required as well as strong interpersonal
skills;
- Must work
shifts (days/evenings) and be available every other weekend;
- Good
attendance essential;

Registered Practical Nurses - Part-Time

Reporting to the DOC or RN designate, the RPN is responsible for
assessing resident needs, ensuring care plan followed, providing
direction to Personal Support Workers regarding care, promotes
effective communication with staff, residents, physicians, and
resident families and be responsible as building charge nurse some
weekend shifts. Assists in staff training and orientation.
Provides personal care as needed.
Requirements:
- Valid RPN License form Ontario College of Nurses and
Medication Certificate required.
- Must have experience in geriatric nursing.
- Strong nursing and assessment skills
- Requires strong communication, interpersonal, leadership
skills & sound judgment.
- Must be available for all shifts.

Personal Support Workers

hands-on care to residents including assistance with personal
hygiene, elimination, nutrition, mobility, and other emotional and

Requirements:
- Must possess a valid PSW certificate or be in the second
year of the RPN program.
- Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and
be a team player.
- Prior experience in retirement or long term care environment
preferred.
